Ecological economics: The next 30 years

This editorial introduces a special section of the journal on ecological economics: The next 30 years consisting 20 different articles from broad range contributors. It explores common themes including uncertainty, normative goals sustainable scale and just distribution, collective action, co-evolution, transdisciplinarity need for radical systemic change. Drawing our own vision EE, we use multi-level selection theory (MLS) to help understand how these are connected, offer insights into might promote action at required achieve socially sustainability transition, reassess distinction between positive science. We conclude that economists united primarily by recognition economics must be built biophysical foundations shared values prioritize good over self-interested individual preferences
